Whole Care Network

WELCOME TO THE WHOLE CARE NETWORK!

Everyone has a story, but not everyone has a chance to tell their story!

At The Whole Care Network, we believe it is through story sharing where diversity meets the road which allows a community to collaborate on a common cause. On The Whole Care Network, we believe the best information and referrals comes from the stories we share.

On The Whole Care Network, our shows touch what we like to describe as the four pillars of health:

Physical | Social | Financial | Spiritual

You will find a variety of show hosts on The Whole Care Network who have a story to share, and a willingness to impact issues in and around the four pillars. Many of our show hosts are new to broadcasting because they have a willingness to share their story.

You will also find established show hosts who still have a passion to share their story.

YouTube Video UC_hC0uHhT5rKIX8qBxvovXA_WyVWoWdAejc Then there is Emilie, the youngest, who was and always will be “the baby”. At 6’1”, she is the sensitive and quiet soul. The one responsible for the guinea pig that begged for lettuce and the stray dog we adopted from the bus stop. A natural-born caregiver, this mother of three has spent the majority of her life caring for others. She would serve the public in the government sector for 10 years before ultimately becoming the full-time caregiver for her mother.

For Emilie, "its definitely been a journey!"

The trio of sisters begins with “JJ” who was and always will be “in charge ”. She’s the peacekeeper. The responsible one, ensuring Natalie and Emilie remained alive growing up. A seasoned executive and business owner, JJ’s career path had her spend her first 17 years in the finance industry and the most recent 12 years as a business owner in the real estate, manufacturing, and retail sectors.
Thrilled to have her sisters along for the journey, the sisters learned as the roads started to get bumpy, they were not prepared for Long Term Care for their mom.

While caregiving for my partner, Richard Schiffer, I was often asked, "What's the difference for LGBT caregivers?"...I would always respond well, "not much, really, because we all just want to be able to care for our loved ones as best as we can." However, I'm not naive, there are differences...

In this video, Christopher MacLellan talks about his experience as an LGBT Caregiver and how caregiving is the one social issue that brings people together from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
There are two prevalent aspects to caregiving that everyone experiences. There's a beginning. And there's an end, and in most cases, we're not prepared for either one of these life-changing events.

In this video, former family caregiver Christopher MacLellan from the Whole Care Network talks about five emotions one might experience after caregiving ends.
Every caregiver knows they need to take better care of themselves; easier said than done. Setting a daily intention for yourself can lead to better health and wellness while learning the art of self-compassion.
In this video, Christopher MacLellan talks about how learning The Art of Self-Compassion can help balance your caregiving day.
My good friend, Julie Norstrand, is a gerontologist who has been working with families and caregivers for several years.

Julie is keenly focused on helping families become more proactive around planning for caregiving... so that they may be better prepared when their loved one needs help. That's because...little is known about how prepared, if at all, individuals are when they take on caregiving roles.

As a caregiver coach, Julie has created a short 5-minute survey to learn more about what planning (if any) people do when stepping in as caregivers.

I've taken the survey myself and can attest it is well thought out and takes less than five minutes to complete!

Who should take this survey, you ask?
Are you expecting to be a caregiver?
Are you currently a caregiver, or are you like me, a former family caregiver...
Then this survey is for you!

The information collected from Julie's survey will provide invaluable information about how we can better support caregivers' plans and prepare them for the role of caregiving!

Please note that all data gathered will be analyzed in the aggregate and will be non-identifiable at the individual level!

Here is the link for the survey: https://lnkd.in/eJ8tsfrA

Thanks for helping...Thanks for being a caregiver!
