Welcome To The Untangling Alzheimer's and Dementia Podcast
In each episode, Marianne Sciucco and Christy Byrne Yates interview an AlzAuthors author who have written a memoir, caregiver guide, novel, children’s book, activity guide, poetry book, blog, or created a podcast or film. Their backgrounds are diverse, and their situations vary - it may be someone living with the disease, a caregiver for a loved one at home or in a facility, or a professional carer. All have joined AlzAuthors because dementia impacted their lives, and they wish to help others through the disease. Their personal stories offer insight, often told through laughter and sometimes tears.
Meet Marianne Sciucco, RN
Marianne Sciucco is a co-founder and director at AlzAuthors and a registered nurse who cared for hundreds of dementia patients over a 20-year career. She provided care to her stepfather during his dementia journey and witnessed the painful decline of four beloved aunts to the disease. Her novel, "Blue Hydrangeas, an Alzheimer’s love story" is based on a couple she met through her work and is a testament to the power of love in the face of this heart-wrenching disease.
AlzAuthors is a not-for-profit, online global community of more than 350 authors writing from personal experience about Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias. We strive to eliminate the silence and stigma surrounding one of the most important diseases of our generation, estimated to affect 50 million people worldwide. We have curated hundreds of powerful and profound stories spanning all disease types and stages. Through our stories, we light the way for others on a similar path to show them: You are not alone.
